Tamil version of EMS Namboothiripad's "History of Freedom Struggle" released

The Tamil translation of the book titled ‘A History of Indian Freedom Struggle' authored by late Communist leader E.M.S. Namboodiripad was released at a function organised by the Thiruchi district committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Veteran CPI (M) leader and the party's central committee member R. Umanath released the Tamil version ‘Indhiya Viduthalai Poratta Varalaru' translated by K. Elakuvan, and handed over the first copy to the Communist Party of India State control commission member R. Karuppaiah.

The CPI (M) central committee member and MP T.K. Rangarajan, CPI State council member M. Selvaraj, Tamil Nadu State Progressive Writers Association State president Arunan, CPI(M) district secretary S. Sridhar and others were present.

In his address, Mr. Rangarajan said the book by E.M.S. Namboodiripad contained bare facts and truth about the freedom struggle without any bias and clearly spelt out the role played by Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The Communist movement had fought against repressive measures, he said.

Hailing E.M.S. Namboodiripad as a great leader, Mr. Rangarajan recalled the special qualities of the late leader.

He called upon party functionaries to read the book's Tamil version. It was essential to mobilise people and drum up support to take on challenges in the era of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation, he said.
