CPI (M) launches fast seeking houses for poor

CPI (M) leaders launched fast unto death demanding that the government allot Indiramma houses for eligible poor and provide safe drinking water, construct roads and drainages and arrange street lights in the city. The party activists led by its State secretariat member V. Krishnaiah on Wednesday garlanded the statue of Puchalapalli Sundaraiah at Kanakamahal Centre and took out a procession up to Gandhi Statue.

Later, Mr. Krishnaiah launched the fasting camp near the statue. Deputy Mayor Madala Venkateswarlu, CPI (M) town secretary M. Mohan Rao, corporators Shaheena Begum, Mastan Bi and Kathi Srinivasulu were doing fasting. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged that large scale irregularities have taken place in allotment of houses under Indiramma housing scheme in Nellore district and injustice was done to the poor.
Former Minister T. Ramesh Reddy, CPI (M) State secretariat member Jakka Venkaiah, CPI leader Rama Raju and others visited the camp and extended their support for the fasting leaders.
