CPI(M) today nominated Ritabrata Banerjee as the Left Front candidate in the November 30 by-election to the South Kolkata Lok Sabha constituency. The nomination of Ritabratha SFI all India general secretary, was announced by Left Front chairman Biman Bose. Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee had yesterday announced the name of party's state president and Transport and PWD minister Subrata Bakshi as the candidate from the prestigious constituency. The seat had been retained by Mamata Banerjee since 1991. She resigned from the seat after becoming Chief Minister in May and successfully contested from the Bhowanipore Assembly constituency vacated by Bakshi in September.
