People won't Tolerate Burglars: Biman Basu

People of West Bengal will never stand by the burglars who cheated million of common mass. West Bengal does not belong to the culture of saving burglars, said CPI(M) State Secretary and Left Front Chairman Biman Basu in the context of Madan Mitra's arrest.

While talking on Mamata Banerjee's arrogance and recent use of nasty language Biman Basu stated that 'it is evident that burglars often lose their tempers. Trinamool leaders are now facing such a situation. People even have started evading Trinamool rallies'. Basu also stated that 'two more Trinamool leaders are still to be arrested on Chit Fund scam issue. If the 'ear' named Mukul is pulled the 'head' named Mamata will surely come forward.

When asked by the Journalists, Biman Basu said that 'for the detainment of a Minister, we don't demand fall of the State Government, but the accused Ministers must resign from the cabinet. He reminded that even during the infamous Siddhartha Shankar Ray's black regime the Land Reform Minister Suniti Chattaraj was forced to resign from the cabinet when accused of Fodder scam by the Wangchu Commission'.

Biman Basu also stated that 'one Minister said on Friday that CBI arrested Madan Mitra to intercept the development programme of the State Government. How the development can be related with such a big Ponzi scam? Are not burglars to be convicted even after stealing billions of public money? Not just Saradha, there are more than 200 such companies that siphoned out hardened money of the millions of common and toiling people. More than 80 people have committed suicide so far. None can say the exact amount of scam i.e. how many crores of rupees have been siphoned out. So the Chief Minister now fears CBI interrogation and further investigation. Biman Basu however sharply criticized the Chief Minister for her statement that she would meet Madan Mitra. How can a Chief Minister express her solidarity with an accused?

CPI(M) demands Mamata be questioned

The CPI(M) today demanded that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee be questioned in connection with the Saradha scam and termed her challenge to the CBI to arrest her as "unconstitutional."
"She has challenged the Supreme Court's directive to the CBI to probe into the Saradha scam... Being the chief minister of a state how can she do this. This is against the Constitution... We are ashamed of this," Opposition leader Surkyakanta Mishra said at a rally here.
The rally demanded the questioning of Mamata and the top Trinamool leadership "involved in the scam".
"One of her MPs arrested in the Saradha scam has been telling that she (Banerjee) is the boss of all these," Mishra said in an apparent reference to suspended TMC MP Kunal Ghosh, arrested over a year back in this connection.
Mishra alleged that both TMC and BJP have been "working out on a secret nexus," and held Banerjee responsible for the state's stalemate.
"She (Mamata) is responsible for the state's stalemate... The TMC and the BJP both are involved in a nexus," he said.
Mishra also claimed that Banerjee has little knowledge on the laws of the country and in the past had herself violated laws several times.
He also questioned why a "law-violation" case against Banerjee would not be initiated on her challenging the apex court's directive on the Saradha scam.
Predicting that the ruling TMC party "would no longer exist and disintegrate" in near future, Mishra invited those "honest, patriot, secular" activists in state to join hands to save the state and the country.
"All are not bad in Trinamool. There must be few who are honest, patriot and secular. We invite them to join us in our fight to save the country... This TMC will not be there, it will disintegrate," the CPI(M) leader said further asserting that the Left would be the only party to save the country's future.
CITU leader Anadi Sahu and CPI(M) leader Rabin Deb were also present in the rally which passed through the hub of the city.

GRAM-BANDH & AGITATION ON NOVEMBER 26 VILLAGE WORKS WILL BE STALLED

Left-Farmers’ Organizations in West Bengal have called for “Gram-Bandh” and will be organizing massive agitation movement on 26th November in each village, throughout the state of West Bengal in protest of anti-people policies adopted by both BJP-led Central and TMC-led State Governments; particularly in demand for increasing price of rice and continuation of MGNREGA, the rural job generating scheme. Announcement of this Gram-Bandh and agitation-movement has been done by Madan Ghosh on Saturday (15th November), on behalf of different Left-farmers’ organizations.

Madan Gosh said that on 26th November, agriculture-based poor villagers will observe “Gram-Bandh” and organize massive agitation-movement in front of office of the Local-Governments and administrations. But he has announced that communication system will not be disturbed, busses will be allowed to move freely; schools & colleges will remain open. He said that only agriculture-based works will be stalled on that day as a mark of protest.

In this connection it is to be mentioned that the TMC-led State Government has fixed bonus on the price of Rice @15 pice/Kg, i.e. @Rs.15/-/ Quintal only; but on the other hand the neighboring states have increase the bonus amount of rice @Rs.100/ to Rs.200/- per quintal. Madhya Pradesh State has paid the bonus @Rs.300/- per quintal. We may remind that the Left-Front Government of West Bengal had paid the bonus @Rs.100/- per quintal of rice four years back. Farmers’ Organizations have expressed their concern that TMC Government has announced the bonus @Rs.15/ per quintal of rice, without considering the sky-rocketing price rise. They have raised question- whether Government is giving them alms/ dole! They are not begging; it is their legitimate right. They have demanded bonus @Rs.200/- per quintal of rice. Base price of rice was @Rs.1310/- per quintal during last year, but State Govt. has increase Rs.50/-per quintal only for this year, i.e. at present total price of rice per quintal is @Rs.1360/- only; which is much below the agricultural production cost of rice. The TMC-Government is totally betraying farmers. As a result, it is apprehended that rice may be sent to nearby states for sell. They have demanded that Government should have established rice-procuring centers in each locality; so that farmers can sell out their agricultural products in actual and desirable price and can minimize their transport time and cost.

Further, BJP-led Central and TMC-led State Governments have jointly made a conspiracy to cut off the opportunity of 100-days MNREGA programme for marginal poor people of the rural villages. Central Government has planned to cut off the scheme and confined the REGA scheme within 200 back-ward Blocks only. The TMC- Government has also joined hands with BJP-Led Central Government and has already published a list of 123 Blocks; where only REGA scheme will be implemented. Both the Central and State Governments have deliberately planning to divide village people in different ways. Central Government has not only slashed the fund allocation for the scheme, but they have also reduced the percentage of fund allocated for working-days and daily wages. Ratio between working-days and materials has been reduced from 60:40 to 51:49; and as a result amount of working-days (daily-wages) will be reduced drastically and poor people will be suffered severely.

Moreover, Government has reduced allocation of funds for the social projects like- Farmers’ Pension, Old-age Pension, Widow Pension etc. Hostel Grants for SC and ST students are due since January 2014. It has been learnt that Tista irrigation project is going to be stopped by the State Government; so that farmers will be suffered. Again, about 1 lakh 90 thousand seats are lying vacant under the state Government. Left-Farmers’ Organizations have demanded that both the Central and State Governments have to solve all above mentioned problems immediately. They have given the call of “Gram-Bandh” in each village throughout the state on November 26 to voice against bulldozing of the poor people

Khagragarh Blast Incident Indicates the Chances of Coming More Violent and Difficult Days: Biman Basu

 Trinamool Congress and Soft Communalism

The Khagragarh blast incident indicates the chances of coming more violent and difficult days in the state, and the ruling Trinamool Congress can't overrule its own responsibility for creating the space for such a grave situation in West Bengal, says Left Front Chairman Biman Basu while addressing the press. He clearly stated that the Left Front has time again alerted about the rise of communal forces in the state but for Trinamool Congress and its soft communal attitude has provided necessary space to both forms of communalism in the state that finally allows the insurgent forces to do enough massacre in the state. Left Front is of strong opinion that the rise of majority communalism also aggravates the rise of minority fundamentalism

Police to Suppress the TMC Association Evidence

On the issue of mopping up evidences of TMC association with the blast incident Biman Basu while expressing serious concern said that 'the ruling Trinamool Government is trying to mop up all evidences that establish close TMC association is a matter of great concern. We the Left Front strongly demand immediate revelation of all facts and information. We want all nodal Government investigating agencies to work independently without any obstacle.

Trinamool Association with the Incident

The more danger fact is to note that the incident has a connection with the ruling Trinamool Congress. The owner and the tenant all are politically associated with Trinamool Congress. Trinamool Congress has its office at the ground floor of that building; the party signboard was hastily removed immediate after the blast. Moreover the District Police administration has initially occluded the NIA officers to investigate the place. Police even intercepted the working Journalists and Media Persons to organize their work. The people of West Bengal must know what for Trinamool Congress and Police are creating obstacle to the NIA investigation. Why the Government is sitting so idle? It is known fact that Trinamool Congress MP has a direct connection with Fundamentalist Jamat. We therefore demand the revelation of all facts regarding Khagragarh blast
