A resolution to this effect was passed at the SFI's 22nd State conference.
The SFI also demanded that the government must implement equitable education so that wards of all poor people get benefited.
From 37 matriculation schools in 1977, the number had increased to 4,500 in the State.
The government must ensure 1:30 student-teacher ratio, make mother tongue as medium of instruction mandatory in schools and functioning of private schools must be streamlined, particularly regarding fee structure.
Planning Commission member from West Bengal Ramachandran inaugurated the delegate session of the conference. He said that India was one of the most illiterate countries in the world. Hence, the SFI must work toward eradicating illiteracy.A casteless society must also be created, Mr. Ramachandran said.
