The 14th All India conference of the Students Federation of India (SFI)
has given a clarion call to the people to wage a battle against
commercialisation of education and prevent plundering of education
sector by corporate players and businessmen. Opposing centralisation of
education tooth and nail, the SFI national meet appealed to people of
all walks of life to resist commercialisation and fight for democratic
rights blended with equitable access for all sections of society.
The conference concluded with the election of its office bearers and the central committee. Com Sivadasan (Kerala) has been elected the All India President and Com. Ritabrata Banarjee (West Bengal) has been elected the All India Secretary. Both were unanimously elected at the first meeting of the newly elected Central Executive Committee. Comrades K S Kanakaraj (Tamil Nadu) Abida Hussain (Rajastan), Nilanjana Roy (Tripura) Madhuja Senroy (WB) Shiju Khan (Kerala) Noor Mohammed (AP) were elected Vice Presidents. Comrades Vikram Singh (Himachal Pradesh) Debjyothi Das (WB) T B Bineesh (Kerala) Lakhmayya (AP) Sathroop Ghosh (WB) were elected joint secretaries. Comrades Ananth Naik, Kapil Bharadwaj, Koppal are elected as the Central Secreteriate members.
The Conference also passed various resolutions regarding the educational sector in the country.
