Left Front Demands Intervention of Election Commission to Ensure Fair Election in Howrah Lok Sabha Seat

Left Front has demanded Election Commission’s intervention to ensure fair and peaceful election in Howrah Lok Sabha by-election. The terror of Trinamool Congress hooligans is increasing day by day as election is coming closer. Left Front in such a situation has therefore demanded immediate intervention of the Election Commission to conduct fair election, said Left Front Chairman and CPI(M) State Secretary Biman Basu. CPI(M) leader Rabin Deb has called on Chief Election Officer Sunil Kumar Gupta to place the same demand.
On last Monday in Bally immediate after the meeting of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Trinamool hooligans started assaulting CPI(M) workers and leaders. Local CPI(M) leader Pradip Ganguly and his daughter Anubhuti Ganguly have been assaulted by the TMC goons. Biman Basu while addressing the press on Tuesday said that ‘a section of Police administration is supporting and promoting these miscreants. We overtly condemn this brutal act and demand immediate arrest of these hooligans’. Along with Bally a vast region of Howrah Lok Sabha constituency including Howrah North, Howrah South, Sankrail, Shibpur, Panchla etc. are under TMC attack. The TMC hooligans are intimidating voters and intercepting Left workers to organize smooth campaign, complained Biman Basu. ‘We hope Election Commission would initiate necessary action without any delay’, said Biman Basu.
CPI(M) leader Rabin Deb met Chief Election Officer Sunil Kumar Gupta and categorically placed the misdeeds of Trinamool leader including the Chief Minister. Rabin Deb said that the Chief Minister has violated the model code of conduct by putting up fresh promises to the voters of Howrah Lok Sabha. The Left Front candidate Sreedip Bhattacharya has submitted allegations to the observer and Police Commissioner about the TMC terror in Howrah.
Rabin Deb alleged that the Chief Minister has violated 6(c) of the Article 7 of the model code of conduct of the Election Commission where it is clearly written that after the announcement of election no new project, essential public service project, and promise would not be announced or inaugurated. But the Chief Minister has already done it. She also intimidated CPI(M) overtly in a meeting. The Government has already advertisements that includes Howrah Improvement Trust ad, salary hike of Panchayat workers etc.

DYFI 4th All India Women's Convention held in Mumbai

The Democratic Youth Federation of India held its 4th All India Young Women’s Convention in Mumbai on 25th and 26th of May. Apart from Central Executive Committee members of the organisation, 94 delegates from various states assembled for the convention at Lakshmi Sehgal Nagar (Aarsh Vidyalaya Campus, Chembur). 

The convention began with DYFI national president M B Rajesh hoisting the flag at the convention venue on 25th morning. Renowed economist Prof. Utsa Patnaik inaugurated the convention. In her inaugural address Prof.Utsa reminded the youth movement that a comprehensive fight against atrocities on women inseparable from the fight against neo-liberal economic regime which is causing immense distress and gunger in our country. The advent of neo-liberal economic policies has pulled back hunger and malnutrition levels to those of colonial times. Women are the worst sufferes of this. Instead of reversing the policies which are causing misery to the people, the ruling establishment is displaying pathetic intellctual dishonesty in claiming that hunger and poverty levels are coming down. She explained the ridiculous nature of poverty line announced by officialdom. Acute poverty is compounded by rising unemployment of which women are the worst affected. Employment opportunities for women are becoming nearly absent in rural India. She drew attention to the structural changes taking place in the workforce of the nation as a result of neo-liberal economics. Decline of organised labour has meant weakening of the social agency that stood for an alternate ‘moral universe’ opposed to capitalism’s culture of objectifying women. This along with ‘lumpenisation’ not only of sections of working class but also of fractions of bourgeosie haver connection to the growing level of atrocities against women.
 

Eminent social activist Teest Setalvad also spoke at the seeion which was chaired by MB Rajesh. CITU leader K L Bajaj and CPI(M) state secretary Ashok Dhawale were also present.

Several eminent women activists, writers and TU leaders like Teesta Setalwad, Sandhya Nare Pawar, Tapati Mukhopadhyaya, Madhu Paranjape, Armaity Irani, Shubha Shamim, Sonya Gill and Mariam Dhawale were felicitated at the inaugural session.

BJP trying to get close to TMC: Buddhadeb Bhattacharya

By withdrawing its candidate for the Howrah Lok Sabha by-election, BJP was trying to get close to Trinamool Congress and gain a footing in West Bengal, CPI(M) PB member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee claimed. He was speaking at a public metting organised as part of election campaign to Howrah bye election.  "BJP is sending a message to Trinamool Congress, which has broken its tie-up with Congress, by withdrawing its candidate, that its doors are open," Bhattacharjee said at a public meeting in howrah.  Claiming that the Trinamool Congress and the BJP were going for a tie-up in the coming general elections, the former chief minister said, "Narendra Modi's BJP wants to enter the political arena of the state, where it has little foothold, and create communal disharmony."

As such, the Trinamool Congress cannot be supported," the party's politburo member said while campaigning for CPI(M) candidate Sridip Bhattacharya for the by-election, which was necessitated by the demise of Trinamool Congress MP Ambika Banerjee. "People neither want Congress nor BJP, they want other forces to unite and come forward," Bhattacharjee said.  "People are not happy with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for selling off state-owned companies, decontrolling petrol and diesel and failure to start a PDS system," he said.

He also claimed that the state was suffering from lack of job creation, flight of industries to other states and lawlessness. "Given this situation, if a Left candidate goes to Lok Sabha from Howrah, it will send a strong message," Bhattacharjee said.

The leader also alleged that anti-social elements were playing a significant part in the affairs of the Trinamool Congress, referring to the murder of a TMC leader at Bally in Howrah district for daring to stand up against real estate developers.

Barbaric Maoist Attack Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the barbaric attack by the Maoists on a convoy carrying Congress leaders participating in the ‘parivartan yatra’ of the party in Bastar district of Chattisgarh. The attack has led to the death of 18 people including senior Congress leaders like the state Congress President and injuries to several others. This is the latest and most shocking example of the politics of violence and terror practiced by the Maoists against all their political opponents.

The Chattisgarh government is answerable for the reported lack of security arrangements for the yatra. On the one hand the BJP government allows the killing of innocent tribals as happened last week in the name of fighting the Maoists and on the other hand it utterly fails to protect legitimate democratic activities in the state.

The CPI(M) extends its condolences to the families of all those killed. It demands a high level enquiry into the incident. It also demands firm action to be taken to stop these Maoists depredations. It calls upon all democratic forces to fight the politics of violence by the Maoists.

CPI (M) protest across Tamil Nadu against anti People policies of UPA

Communist Party of India (Marxist) cadre staged protests across Tamil Nadu on Friday against the economic policies of the Central Government as part of the national campaign. More than 50000 cadres courted arrest across the state. 

Party is of the view that Centre’s economic policies have led to high inflation, which was placing a huge burden on the economically weaker sections of the society.

The policies of economic liberalisation and globalisation followed by the government had led to a sharp spike in the prices of essential commodities and have also contributed to higher unemployment, both of which had hurt the common man. The party also condemned the Government for the succession of scams in various fields ranging from 3G allocation, coal, and procurement of helicopters for VVIPs besides appointment of railway jobs. The agitators also condemned the government for allow foreign direct investment in the retail sector. Thousands of retailers would be forced to close their shops if the large corporate houses entered the sector, they said.

Further, the cadre said that instead of spending Rs. 15,950 crore annually to safeguard the 665 lakh tonnes of rice stored in godowns across the country, the Government could adopt universal public distribution system rather than restricting the beneficiaries by dividing them to above and below poverty line categories. The CPI (M) also demanded changes in the Food Safety Act, which was currently under the consideration of the Central Government and the introduction of stringent legal provisions to protect women from harassment.

Pudukottai

In Pudukottai, party cadres picketed Union government offices in 13 centres.CPIM district secretary M. Chinnadurai. S. Rajasekaran, former MLA, led the agitation in Alangudi, and P. Shanmugam, CITU district president, led the agitation in Arimalam. CPI (M) cadres courted arrest in Pudupatti, Ponnamaravathi, Gandarvakottai, Iluppur, Viralimalai, Aranthangi, Avudaiyarkoil, Manamelkudi, and Keeranur in the district. 

Karur

In Karur district, the party picketed the post offices. G. Rathinavelu, former State committee member, led the agitation. K. Dorairaj, chairman of the State Control Commission of the party, led the agitation at Velayuthampalaiyam and K. Kandasamy, Karur district secretary of the party, in Kulithalai. Agitations were held in Thogamalai, Chinna Dharapuram, Krishnarayapuram, Tharagampatti, and Velayuthampalaiyam.

Ariyalur

In Ariyalur district, police took into preventive custody 265 cadre. Manivel, district secretary of the party, led the agitation in T. Pazhur. Similar agitations were held in Jayamkondam, Andimadam, and Senthurai towns. A total of 78 CPI(M) cadre were taken into custody from Perambalur and Kaikalathur. Jothiram, State committee member, led the agitation in Perambalur.

Thanjavur

Over 1,000 people were taken into preventive custody in Thanjavur. The agitations were led by State Council member Mohammed Ali at Thanjavur, Sami Nadarajan, District Council member at Orathanadu, G.Neelamegam, Thanjavur District Secretary of CPI(M), at Peravurani, Budalur, V. Jeevakumar, district committee member, at Budalur. Agitations were held in Papanasam, Kumbakonam, Pattukottai, Thiruvonam. 

Tiruvarur: 

584 cadre were arrested at Tiruvarur, Mannargudi, Thiruthuraipoondi, Kodavasal, Peralam, and Nannilam.

Salem

Cadres staged road blocks and agitations at 19 places across the district. The police removed the cadre when they blocked the road near BSNL office in Meyyanur. A total of 149 cadre, including 19 women, were removed in the city when they staged protests in front of the Post Office in Ayodhiyapattinam, BSNL office’s in Salem Town and at Pallapatti. Likewise, 631 cadre, including 165 women, were removed from 16 places across the district when they blocked the roads.

Puducherry

In Puducherry police took around 500 cadres into custody when they blocked the roads in 5 places including Lawspet, Bahour, Villianur and others. V. Perumal, territorial secretary of CPI (M), was among those arrested. As many as 50 women took part too.They didn’t forget to raise their protest against the power tariff hike in Puducherry.

Vellore

In Vellore, party’s State committee member P. Sundarrajan led the cadres in front of Head Post Office to stage a road blockade and got arrested. District Secretary A. Narayanan was among the 262 cadres (including 97 women) arrested while attempting to stage road rokos in eight places namely, Vellore, Tirupathur, Ambur, Gudiyatham, Arcot, Ranipet, Nemili and Vazhapanthal.

Tiruvannamalai

In Tiruvannamalai, party’s State secretariat member N. Gunasekaran led the cadres to the Golden Jubilee Memorial Pillar to stage a road roko. He got arrested. District Secretary M. Veerabadran was among the 486 cadres (including 140 women) arrested while attempting to stage road rokos in seven places including Tiruvannamalai, Cheyyar, Vandavasi, Arani, Polur, Kalasapakkam and Chengam.

Cudallore

K. Balakrishnan, MLA led the agittation in Cudallore district. 

Dindigul

Communisy Party of India (Marxist) cadre were taken into custody for blocking roads across the district. A total of 1,777 members of the CPM, including 461 women, were arrested when they held road blockades at 21 places in the district 

Addressing the gathering in front of the Head Post Office here, Dindigul MLA K.Balabarathi said the Centre should abandon the Direct Cash Transfer Scheme as it was a clandestine move to close down the public distribution system. Earlier, the CPI(M) cadre took out a rally from Periyar statue to the Head Post Office.

Theni

Road blockades were staged by CPM workers at eight places in Theni district, and 875 CPI(M) cadre were arrested. Presiding over the protest action, Periakulam MLA A.Lazar condemned the "anti-people policies" of the Central Government and its "failure" to prevent rising prices of essential commodities.

Ramanathapuram

Over 630 CPM workers, including 158 women, were arrested in Ramanathapuram district when they staged agitations in front of post offices and banks at 11 places on Friday. Police said CPI(M) district secretary A.Govindasamy, who led the protestors here, and the party’s State Committee member S.K.Ponnuthai in Paramakudi, were among the 639 arrested.

Sivaganga

A total of 566 members of the CPI(M), including 193 women, who staged protests in front of banks and other Central Government offices at 12 places in Sivaganga district, were arrested.

Tirunelveli

A total of 1,392 cadre, including 414 women, were arrested when they attempted to block traffic at 22 places in the district on Friday . In the protest organised at Tirunelveli Junction, the police arrested 148 protestors, including four women, while the Tirunelveli rural police detained 1,244 cadre, including 410 women, as they attempted to block traffic at 21 places in the district.

Tuticorin

A total of 1,350 cadre, including 650 women, of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) courted arrest in various parts of Tuticorin district on Friday when they blocked road.

Nagercoil

More than 1,000 CPI(M) cadre courted arrest when they tried to block roads at 28 places in different parts of Kanyakumari district. 

Erode

In Erode town, traffic was blocked at Panneerselvam park. Similar agitations were held at Perundurai, Bhavani, Anthiyur, Gobichettipalayam, Sathyamangalam, Thingalur, Sivagiri, Thalavadi, and Kadambur.

The police arrested more than 1,200 agitators.

Nilgiris

A total of 98 people owing allegiance to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) were arrested for participating in a picketing demonstration near the Independence Square here on Friday. Among those arrested were 35 women. The demonstration, led by the CPI (M) State Executive Committee member N. Srinivasan. Among those who participated was the District Secretary, CPI (M) R. Badri and district executive committee member L. Thiagarajan. 52 persons were arrested in Gudalur and 75 persons including 18 women were held in Erumadu for participating in picketing demonstrations for the same demands.

Madurai

Hundreds of Communist Party of India (Marxist) cadre were arrested when they tried to stage protests in front of Central Government offices in Madurai District on Friday, The party had organised protests at 16 places in the district. CPI(M) Central Committee member P.Sampath, led the protest on Scott Road.

Namakkal

More than thousand CPI(M) cadres, including former MLA Nanmaran, were arrested in Namakkal district on Friday , 1220 workers were arrested from 27 areas in Namakkal district.

Two Years of TMC Government It is You Who have to Answer, Madam Chief Minister

Two years after the ‘change’ (poriborton), what is the condition of Bengal? What was the promise, what was the announcement and what have the people of this state got? Anger-tears-frustrations, have all become synonymous with the ‘change’ in West Bengal. Chief Minister has dictated the opposition to keep mum for the coming ten years. In spite of this desired embargo, the barrage of questions cannot be stopped. People are raising questions.

• Saradha Scam: The biggest achievement of the TMC Government in the last two years is to create the biggest financial scam in West Bengal involving thousands of crores of rupees. The TMC leadership including the Chief Minister have been friends of the Saradha group who has usurped money of the poor people. The investigation is not being handed over to the CBI with the state police going slow on the issue. The Government of maa-mati-manush has aided in the loot of the people.
• Land of suicide of the farmers and workers: The agricultural infrastructure has collapsed in the state. As a result that 85 farmers/agricultural workers committed suicide burdened with which were taken as a result of not getting remunerative prices for their produce. No job, no salary for Transport Workers: It is not only the farmers, the State Transport Corporation workers and retired employees had to commit suicide without getting salary or pension. Tea garden workers: In the tea-gardens of North Bengal incidence of death due to mal-nutrition and hunger is taking place. Why is the Administration not paying any attention to this?
• Eviction of Bargadars: Of the 27 thousand landless burgadars, who were awarded patta, why is it that in the last two years 9 thousand of them were evicted from their land?
• West Bengal tops in attacks against women: Rapes and molestation of women has become the norm in the state. But the Chief Minister instead of ensuring safety and security for women in the state in the most callous manner refused to acknowledge it as a problem and claimed that all such incidents were fake.
• Killing of Opposition Cadres: In the last two years 93 CPI(M) and left cadres have been murdered in the state. The promise of no revenge by the CM turned out to be a sham with the TMC goons attacking CPI(M) cadres all across the state.
• Intimidating Opposition: In two years only near about 8 thousand CPI(M) workers have been framed in false cases out of political vengeance. What sort of neutral administration does this portray?
• No Tolerance for Dissent: Simply for mailing a cartoon a University teacher had to go to the Police lock-up. In spite of the fact that the State Human Rights Commission recommended compensation for the professor, the State Government has refused to accept it. A poor farmer was branded as a Maoist and arrested for asking a question to the CM. A student was abused and branded as Maoist by the CM on national TV for asking a question. From the Government list for libraries, the newspapers which are not of choice have been left out. In this list, the Chit Fund owned newspapers have been given importance.
• No Respect for Constitutional Bodies: The Government openly challenged the Election Commission with regard to the Panchayat Elections and the TMC leadership casted aspersions at the Chief Election Commissioner. The Government has not adhered to any of the recommendations of the Human Rights Commission.
• Government of Festivals: The Government is busy in huge expenditure in festivals. In the Festival of Land (Mati Utsav) only the Government has spent 6 crore of rupees. In every festival, Government expenditure is being incurred for the cut-out and political propaganda of Trinamool, agricultural departments money is also being spent in festival. Such colossal waste of public money by a Government is a matter of shame.
• Wasting Public Money: The Government has no money to give the DA to the Employees where as to satisfy those who do not have a post in the Government, highly cost carrying post of cabinet secretary equivalent to minister rank was created whose job profile is not clear but what is their job.
• Deceit of Singur: The Government has been deceitful in the name of returning the land in Singur. The Singur law passed by the might of two-third majority in Assembly, was declared as unlawful, unconstitutional by the judiciary. Who has deceived the people of Singur?
• Throttling Democratically Elected Bodies: In order to eliminate the democratically elected representatives from the University administration the Government has framed a new law. To stop the election to School Governing body notification was issued.
• Attack on Students and Educational Institutions: The Government has practically banned student union elections in the state. When the students demanded elections, a SFI leader, Sudipto Gupta, was killed in police custody. Teachers, Principals, Non-teaching staffs have been beaten up by TMC goons inside the college campuses with the CM justifying those attacks.
• Denying Justice: When Damayanti Sen revealed that the incident of rape took place in Park Street, she was transferred. The Charge Sheet of the case was filed more than a year after the incident. After, Sudipto Gupta died in police custody; the CM described it as a small and petty matter and has instituted no enquiry into the incident.
• Free run of TMC goons: In Bhangar Arabul’s atrocities were given indulgence by the Government. From a lady teacher being physically heckled by throwing a jug to veteran MLA Abdur Rezzak Mollah being heckled Chief Minister has rained praises on him. Whereas Governor himself commented “The State is running under total anarchy”. The incident of Shambhunath Kow, Munna, (both TMC Councillors) in brazen anti-social atrocities amounting of murder of a police inspector and usurping land is for all to see. Presidency University was attacked by TMC goons without any provocation. In many parts of the state, no other political party is allowed to campaign or have their presence which is openly pronounced by Ministers and MPs of TMC. In Bally, in the incident of TMC worker Tapan Dutta murder, his wife accused Minister Arup Ray for the murder. Wants CBI enquiry. Trinamool MLA Ashima Patra herself has been accused by the wife of a murdered TMC workers wife of being involved in the murder. The High Court has ordered the CBI to probe this death in police lock-up.
In Mahestala the TMC Chairman himself was accused of burning the hoodlums for promoting purpose.
• Attacks on party offices: With the excuse of being heckled in Delhi, in West Bengal just in one and a half day the ruling party has destroyed one and a half thousand party offices and other mass organisation offices of the Left.
• Lip service on Minorities: By giving emoluments to the Imams and the muazzins is it minority development? Why is it that the initiative of the Left Front Government of reserving 10 percent seats in service for under developed minorities is being left unattended without implementing in whose favour?
• Attack on Panchayats: Panchayats have been crippled. Chief Minister is asking the BDO’s to contact her directly. For seven times Panchayat election has been held timely in this State. This is for the first time that a cloud has emerged over the Panchayat Election. The Election Commission has approached the Judiciary with a plea for fair election. Ultimately the court had to issue an order asking for timely elections of the Panchayats.
• Slowdown in Industry: With so much pomp Bengal Leads is being staged but where is the investment in industrial sector. In 2009-10 from 9 thousand crore the investment in industrial sector has come down to 12 crore only.

CPIM Picketing of Government Offices in Kerala Begins

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists  laid siege to the taluk offices in all the districts in Kerala as part of a five day national-level agitation organised by the party against the policies of the State and Central governments.The siege will continue till from 20th may to the 26th May. 

CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the Kerala Police Association has turned into a feeder organisation of the Congress party, thanks to two years of the United Democratic Front (UDF) government.

Speaking after inaugurating the week-long siege of taluk offices in front of Kanayannur taluk office in Eranakulam District  on Monday, Mr. Vijayan said the Kerala police had lost its reputation of being the top force in the country due to its politicisation.

The police association has been the biggest casualty of the two years of UDF rule as reflected in its failure to maintain law and order. The police was not taking appropriate action in cases of atrocities against women and children.

The present situation would lead to the force being deprived of its organisational freedom. A conspiracy has been hatched towards that end by those leading the association at the instance of the Congress party. Mr. Vijayan said the CPI(M) would defeat the government’s efforts to facilitate the entry of multi-national companies into drinking water distribution in the State. It was the previous Left Democratic Front government which had cleared the liabilities of the Kerala Water Authority and made it self-reliant. Any effort to undo that would not be allowed, he said.

DYFI Kerala State conference to begin today

The 12th State conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India Kerala unit will be held at Alappuzha from Tuesday to Thursday. 

Reception committee chairman G. Sudhakaran, MLA, hoisted the conference flag at the Town Hall  on Monday to mark the start of proceedings of the conference.. The flag was brought to the town in procession from Karimulackal G. Bhuvaneswaran Martyr Memorial at Charummoodu in the district. The flag was brought from Koothuparamba Martyrs Memorial at Kannur.

O.N.V. Kurup, Jnanpith laureate, will inaugurate the conference. A total of 683 delegates from the 14 districts will participate in the conference. DYFI State president M. Swaraj will preside over the inaugural function. State secretary T.V. Rajesh, MLA, will present the report.

DYFI president M.B. Rajesh, MP, and general secretary Abhoy Mukherjee will participate.

A seminar on “Relevance of Left movements in 21st century” will be held from 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinarayi Vijayan, State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)  will inaugurate the seminar. P.K. Chandranandan, veteran Communist leader and leader of the Punnapra struggle, will preside over the seminar. CPI State secretary Pannian Ravindran, the Revolutionary Socialist Party leader N.K. Premachandran, the Janata Dal(S) leader Mathew T. Thomas and the CPI(M) district secretary C.B. Chandrababu will participate.

The delegate meeting will continue on Wednesday, where young talent from various fields will be honoured. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member M.A. Baby will inaugurate the meeting to honour talent. Mr. Sudhakaran will preside over the function.

One lakh youths will take out a rally to mark the conclusion of the conference on Thursday. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will inaugurate the valedictory meeting. The CPI(M) leaders Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and T.M. Thomas Isaac, MLAs, will speak.

The venues of the conference are EMS Stadium, Municipal Town Hall and Town Square.

Ajit Sarkar Murder: Appeal Acquittal

The acquittal by the Patna High Court of Pappu Yadav and his cohorts for the murder of CPI(M) MLA and leader Ajit Sarkar is a travesty of justice. The lower court had found incontrovertible evidence of his guilt and he was serving a life sentence. On several occasions the Supreme Court had refused him bail. In the name of “giving the accused the benefit of doubt”, the High Court has acquitted him and ordered his release.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that the CBI take this matter seriously. It should expeditiously appeal against this verdict in the Supreme Court. Justice should not be denied in this case.

CPI(M) demands medical bulletin of key accused in Saradha scam

CPI(M) today demanded the West Bengal government to issue medical reports of Sudipta Sen, the key accused in the ponzy scheme scam, currently in police custody and claimed that he had already made some 'startling disclosures' in the case.
  

"Many heads may roll if he (Sudipta Sen) makes further disclosures in his statement to the police. The government should issue medical bulletin about his health in the interest of fair investigations," CPI(M) Politburo member and opposition leader in state assembly Suryakanta Mishra  told reporters.
 

Sen had a medical check-up in a state-run hospital recently. Demanding security of all those arrested in the Saradha chitfund scam and were now in police custody, Mishra alleged that more Trinamool Congress leaders may be found involved in the scam if Sen speaks further and makes more disclosures.
  

"The government has been wilfully delaying the course of the probe and putting pressure on the concerned authorities to suppress facts," the CPI(M) leader said alleging tardy progress of the Saradha investigations.
  

"It is quite clear that the government has been shielding those directly involved in the scam and with that in mind, we moved the President and the Prime Minister to submit that the CBI probe is a must to reveal the truth," he said.
  

Mishra also alleged that the state government had not been making any effort to ensure that the affected investors were given back the money they had lost in the Saradha meltdown.
